Hawker Association Visit  on Wednesday 30 September Details

The annual visit is to RAF Northolt and to the RAF Uxbridge Battle of Britain Bunker on Wednesday 30 September 2015;you must be at RAF Northolt by 9:45.

Visitors names, and car registration number are to be put on a list of up to 20 visitors but if it is filled there's a possibility that a few extras can be accommodated.

There are places available, but booking is essential, have you done so? (see the list below). Booking, by phoning Frank Rainsborough on 01784 247888, must be by Wednesday 23 September.

The day starts at 09:45 at RAF Northolt, and then, in the afternoon, we visit the nearby RAF Uxbridge Battle of Britain Bunker. In both cases there are guided tours specially arranged for Hawker Association members, and their guests.

There is no charge for either event but at the conclusion of the day, upon departing the Battle of  Britain bunker, a small cash contribution would be welcomed by the Friends of 11 Group (In wartime  it was 11 Group who ran the bunker operation)

The tour commences at 10am at RAF Northolt, the entrance is in West End Road Ruislip, HA4 6NG.  Please park in the car park and then report to the Main Guardroom (tel 020 8833 8368) at 09:45. It is essential to bring with you a photo identity such as your Passport, Driving License or Bus Pass.

Once 'registered' a bus will take us on a tour of the 32 Sqn hangars, the VIP rooms and the Polish Lounge/Museum.  The tour will run for 2 hours (10 – 12:00 hrs) and ends at the Keith Park Building, currently a restoration project.

We will return to the car park to make the short car journey to the Battle of Britain Bunker, but please, to reduce the number of cars travelling to the BoB Bunker, fill each car to capacity. I am expecting that willing chauffeurs will be happy to return their passengers to the RAF Northolt car park.

For lunch, at the BoB Bunker, there is a suggestion.  At the Bunker, near the ex-Gate Guardians, a Spitfire and a Hurricane, there is a seating area with picnic tables, that's the suggestion, bring a packed lunch!  If it is raining or it's too cold to sit outside, it's been offered that the group can eat in the AUS (Airspace Utilisation Section) building.

The bunker tour will also run for 2 hours, 14:00 – 16:00 hrs.
