On 30September 25 Members and friends enjoyed a first class visit to RAF Northolt and the RAF Bunker at Uxbridge. Photos

At Northolt we were given a comprehensive tour covering the 32 Squadron hangars where we had free access to the BAe146s and an Augusta 109  used for transport and VIPs, including the Royal Family and the Cabinet. We also visited the VIP and Royal departure lounges, and the wartime Operations Room which is being reconstructed.

At Uxbridge we were given an excellent talk on the design and operation of Air Chief Marshal Dowding's underground fighter control room facilities used by Air Marshal Keith Park to control 11 Group during the Battle of Britain. We also visited the adjoining museum which houses a large collection of artefacts associated with the bunker. In both places we had excellent guides.
