12 December Photos Frank Rainsborough took of the Annual Dinner are in his Google+ account here. You can download a picture, while in a ‘Stopped’ slide show, by clicking on ‘More’ > ‘Download picture’ or for the whole Album in a zip file click on the down arrow on the right just above the Thumbnails. Photos are 2048 x 1366 and about 300kb each.

On 11 December there will be our annual Association Xmas Lunch. The cost will be £16.50; bookings for the Lunch will be taken at the next meeting on November 13th. Details. There will NOT be a committee meeting in the morning.

On Wed 13 November Heinz Frick will talk on A Lucky Aviator. There will be a committee meeting in the morning.

On Wed 9 October David Hassard gave a remarkable talk on the Sopwith Story. In it’s short 8 years Sopwith built an amazing 40 types. Ralph Hooper and many other significant names from Kingston’s aviation industry attended along with aviation authors Philip Jarrett, John Sweetman and Bob Wealthy. We were also honoured to meet both Sir Thomas Sopwith’s son Thomas Edward Sopwith and Harry Hawker’s grand-daughter, Cathy Dimsdale.

On Wed 9 October David Hassard will talk on the Sopwith Story. There will be a committee meeting in the morning.

On Wed 11 September there will be a social gathering and a video. There will be a committee meeting in the morning.

  On Wed 4 September the Summer visit is to the Museum of Berkshire Aviation ; details.

31 August Sadly David Fowler has told us that Pete I’Anson, age 91, died on 30 August. The funeral service is at 14:00 on 10 September at Canford Crematorium, Bristol.

On Wed 21 August a Catalina begins to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Harry Hawker’s 1913 attempt to fly around Britain in a Sopwith Waterplane by flying low (1000ft) over London, Canbury Park Road Kingston, and Brooklands; details.

14 May Sadly Peter Harlow has told us that John Curry, aged 91, who worked in the Buying Office , died on 13 May. The funeral will be at 2:40 pm on Wednesday 22 May at Mortlake Crematorium.

5 March Sadly we learn of the passing of Colonel Frank Pieri USMC retd. Frank was the Logistic Support Manager for the initial purchase of jump jets. He was a forceful and likeable partner.and made many good friends in the UK We send our condolences to his wife Betty and the family. Les Palmer

Hawker Aircraft & the Great Richmond Road Factory. From Saturday 16 February 2:30pm to Saturday 23 there are historic photos, aircraft models, slide shows and other activities at Tudor Drive Library and Tudor Hall; details.

On Wednesday 13 February Michael Pryce will talk on the rise and fall of the P1154.

On Wednesday 6th February at 6:30 in the Club House at the Brooklands Museum David Hassard will give a "Sopwith Aircraft Story" talk to the Weybridge Branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society; entry £2.50. He will chart the chronology and volumes of Sopwith's output over those 8 intensive years from 1912 to 1920. Visitors welcome.

31 January We have just heard that Mrs Alma Apted (wife of the late John Apted Ex Head of Mechanical systems at BAe Kingston) passed away peacefully at home on the night of Saturday 30th December.

The Art Exhibition celebrating 100 years of Kingston Aviation is only open until 12th January 2013 at the Kingston Museum Art Gallery. Opening times are Thursday 10am to 7pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 5pm. Admission is free. "The best exhibition we have ever had here" - Friend of Kingston Museum. Kingston Aviation website; note this is wrong saying Wednesday instead of Friday.
