On December 12 2007 sixty two members and partners had a great Xmas lunch with masses of turkey. Menu details.

Christmas Lunch is on December 12 at 12:30 for 1:00 pm (NOTE earlier time). Cost is £15 including a drink. Essential to book with Ken Batstone by phoning 01932 229938 by the end of November; if necessary leave a message and phone number so he can respond. Partners are welcome. Details. On 14 November Clive Rustin (A&AEE) will talk on Fifty-three Years of Flying; newsletter story. There will be a committee meeting in the morning.

On Thursday 25th Oct 18 members and friends joined the BAE Sytems Retirement Association Kingston walk lead by John Arthur. It started at Old Coulsdon and included Kenley Aerodrome. Story and picture.

On Thursday 25th Oct  John Arthur is having another walk for the BAES Kingston Retirement Association and Hawker Association members are invited. The walk starts at 11:15 am from Old Coulsden and includes Kenley Aerodrome. If you would like to go it is essential to ring John on 020 8393 3579 as soon as possible; numbers may be limited by the lunch venue. Details.

A Memorial Service for Neville Duke will be held at the RAF church of St Clement Danes in the Strand, on Thursday 11th October at 12 noon.

On 10 October Chris Roberts will talk on ‘My Third Job in the Front Office’; newsletter story. There will be a committee meeting in the morning.

On September 19 there was a very successful and enjoyable visit to the RAF Museum London (Hendon). Story and picture, details.

Trevor Jordan has noticed the following event on Sunday, 22nd July.

“Fly to the  past” has organised a “Festival of Flight” at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Main Item is a 4 hour flying display starting at 2pm and including Sea Harrier and Typhoon F2.

In the morning at 9am is a fun fair of flight featuring hot air ballon rides, Battle of Britain re-enactment and large model flying display.

The program ends with “Swing to the past” starting at 6pm with Jive Aces Band.

James Griffin sad news

Jim, who worked in the Design Loft Department for many years, died on Saturday 7 July. The funeral will be at 12:00 on Tuesday 17 July at St Marks Church, Surbiton. Location

Maurice Gilson sad news

Maurice died on Tuesday 7 June. The funeral is on 19 June at 12:15 pm at Eltham Crematorium, Crown Woods Way , Near Falcon Woods, Post code SE9 2??, it is on the south side of the A2, MultiMap,

The family will be providing flowers; it is suggested that donations are made to the Ellenor Foundation,  www.ellenorfoundation.org North West Kent and the London Borough of Bexley's Children's and Adults' Hospice at Home Service.

The Summer BBQ on 13 June was blessed with perfect weather. 48 members enjoyed plenty of excellent food prepared by the Hawker Centre. Thanks go to Ken Batstone and Jan White for organising it. Story and pictures.

The Typhoon and Tempest Association have invited any members who built/worked on either Typhoons or Tempests to join this years Typhoon and Tempest Association get together on Saturday June 3rd. Please contact Ken Rimell (Founder)  . The association has been running since 1982 and this years reunion takes place in West Sussex.

  CLIFFORD BORE

We have just received news of the sad death of Cliff Bore, who died last Saturday, 21st April.

His funeral will take place at Kingston Crematorium, on Friday 4th May at 11 a.m.  There will be refreshments afterwards at the Hawker Centre, and everyone is welcome.

On Wed 11 April there is the Annual General Meeting and a Video (Notice of AGM and Membership renewal form as a PDF document). There will NOT be a committee meeting in the morning.

On 14 March John Farley stepped into the breach and gave a talk on the VSTOL Wheel of Misfortune. More

On Wednesday 14 March John Farley will talk on ‘The V/STOL Wheel of Misfortune’. This is a change to the program because unfortunately David Scrimgeour is unable to give his talk on the Tripart Evaluation Squadron.

Sir Sydney Camm Bronze - On 27 February a bust, sculptured by our chairman Ambrose Barber, was unveiled at the RAF Club’s 85th anniversary reception. A DVD of the event is available from Richard Cannon. More

14 February 2007. In the continued success of the speakers that we are lucky enough to have attend our meetings Sir Colin Chandler delighted around 68 of us with his amusing and informative presentation on easyJet and its phenomenal growth.

On Wed 10 January there will be a social with a quiz by Les Palmer. There will be a committee meeting in the morning.
